I searched all over Wikipedia on November 29, 2006, and I learnt that there were no words on Lebanon's last synagogue. Although inactive, and targeted by militant groups in the past, it is famous and well-kept from intruders in downtown Beirut. And yet, no one in Lebanon thought of signing up to Wikipedia to publish an article about it. It was as if no one around the world knew about it.
In no time, when I was in Beirut, I created and published the article to cyber space. With Wikipedia, you are required to mention where you get your statements from, i.e. "references". I looked into three or more of them and, with careful reading and research, brought the article to existence.
